What metal studs are for
Metal studs, usually aluminium, cut into soft wet ground where moulded studs slide. That is why they are standard for UK club rugby between October and March. Two things to know: World Rugby caps any stud at 21mm and bans burring and sharp edges, and most artificial pitches ban metal outright, so check your ground before you buy.
