Good questions
Solo sled or a multi-pad machine?
A solo/single sled suits individual technique work or a small squad on a budget. Multi-pad "sled" machines (typically 3–4 bags) let a full front row or pack drive together, closer to a real scrum. Full combo rigs (6–8 bags) are built for senior club or academy squads training at volume.
What does the ballast do?
Resistance on a scrum machine comes from weight, usually a water tank (fillable/drainable so a club can scale resistance to the squad training that day) or fixed/sandbag ballast on simpler models. Check a machine's stated ballast type before buying if matching resistance to your squad's age group matters.
Why do some prices say "on application"?
The most bespoke and digital/hydraulic machines are typically quoted per order rather than sold off a fixed price list, we show that honestly rather than inventing a number. Everything else on this page carries a real, stated retail price.
